Broken Prince by Erin Watt

Hello again! I have decided to review both books from the Royals series in one night, because I cannot get these characters out of my head. If you haven’t read my first post on Paper Princess then go read it here before reading this one!

Okay, so as I said in my previous post, as soon as I finished PP, I instantly started reading this one (the joy of having a kindle library at my finger tips)! I think I should have given myself time to absorb what had happened, but I never claimed to be patient!

This book picks up directly where PP finishes, I’m going to quote the blurb, so if you haven’t read PP, then this may contain a couple of spoilers.

“From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.

Reed Royal has it all–looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.

What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely–keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

She might be right.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.”

In comparison with the last book, this one switches between Reed’s perspective and Ella’s. I wasn’t a fan of switching perspectives previously, but it’s really growing on me lately, and I like seeing the drama unfold from different sides. And I really like being inside Reed’s head. This book is an amazing follow up to the first, and I cannot get over how much I love these characters. They’re all so dark, and I feel like we’ve barely scratched the surface with all the secrets swirling around. Everyone seems to have an ulterior motive for everything and it’s so wildly messed up, I can’t get over it. Even though the book centers around Ella and Reed, I dont feel like the other characters are supporting characters, you know? They all have their own back stories and their own issues, and you want to dig deep with them all.

And do not even get me started on the cliff-hanger. Cliff-hangers suck so much, and this book has me ripping out my hair with all the conspiracies flipping through my head. Its a serious WTF?! moment. I cannot even begin to explain how badly I need the next book. The anticipation and suspense is killing me already (as I said, I am not a patient woman), and I only finished this book yesterday, guys. October17October17October17October17October17. The final installment cannot come soon enough, even though I’m going to be devastated when this series is over.
