November 9 by Colleen Hoover.

Hello people! I haven’t been able to post for a while due to personal reasons, but I’m back now! I’ve been going through a reading rut with nothing really capturing my attention (I blame the Royals… I cannot get them out of my head!) So, I thought I would review a book that I read a little while ago, and I’m not sure why I haven’t reviewed already? Without further ado, here is my review of November 9, by Colleen Hoover!

This is the first book I’ve read by Hoover, and I’m already in love with her writing and I’m sure all of her other books are equally amazing, so my task is to read all of her books before the end of the year! I’ve heard so many good things about her writing that I decided to get November 9, and go in completely blind, and I’m so glad I did because I feel like if you know anything about this book, you already too much, so I’m going to give you a brief outline.

Fallon is an introvert who meets Ben, a writer, and there is an instant attraction between the  two. Ben helps bring Fallon out of her shell and start accepting herself for who she is. The problem? Fallon is only 10 hours away from moving across the country. Super sucky. To make sure that they can see each other again, Ben sets Fallon tasks to complete and they both agree to meet again every year. Same time. Same date. And Ben will write their story. It then follows them through this day each year, and you know… life happens. But in a sick twist, nothing is as it seems and Fallon worries her life has been manipulated to be the ultimate plot twist.

This book is completely different to anything I’ve read before. You know nothing about their outside lives, apart from what they chose to share on that one day with each other. Hoover explores how a chance encounter can change your whole life, and change who you become as a person. There are so many twists and turns in this book, it is hard to think straight. I honestly felt sick with anxiety. Hoover basically rips your heart out and tears to peices, puts it back together, just to then have someone steamroller over it, get a hammer and beat it to a pulp. And just when you think she can do no more damage, she sets it on fire. But it’s all okay, because you’ll enjoy it. For the most part. I’m not sure how she does it, but this book is so fascinating, and enthralling and the pages will just slip away and before you know it days will have passed and you’ll be sat there, angry and frustrated and 100% not ready to let go. Or at least that’s how I was! And then I cried because there were no more pages to read (a serious book hangover ensued) Honestly it broke my heart, because I could read about Fallon and Ben forever, their story is so real. And it’s full of trepidation, and angst but also a lot of humour that will make you laugh out loud. CoHo can basically do no wrong in my eyes, and I’m so excited to go and read all of her other books! If November 9 is anything to go by then I know I’m going to love them, and I need to invest in a room full of tissues for the buckets of all my tears.
